You’re invited to engage in the practice of writing.
Meet on the Porch Writing Retreats offers Greater Mankato an opportunity for writers of all levels and genres to write together. A bi-weekly workshop on the first & third Tuesday of each month is at the core of this practice. Weekend retreats are another option for more intensive time with writing and are a practical option for those from the areas of Minneapolis, St. Paul, Duluth, Rochester.
Carey McLaughlin, workshop and retreat facilitator, became familiar with “the method” for leading writing workshops when she attended a retreat in Wales at the St. Non’s Retreat Centre under the guidance of Amherst Writers & Artists senior partner Patricia Lee Lewis.
The practices utilized while writing at the Wales retreat influenced Carey so much that in the winter of 2006, she decided to bring the experience to the Midwest. She set out to create for other writers what she found in Wales by scheduling her first retreat at a bed and breakfast in New Ulm. The fun didn’t stop there. She trained with the Amherst Writers and Artists in CT in May 2006.
If you’re looking for an opportunity to write and to learn more about writing, consider a workshop or retreat. Carey brings writers eight years of leading writing workshops with high school and college students as well as the experience of being a retreat participant herself.
